Beginning of Official Transcript

The beginning of the official transcript contains the student's name, student identification number, record type (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, or professional), current college, currentmajor, and transfer coursework.

Degree Information

Before an undergraduate student is filed to graduate, college and major is listed under the student's name:

When an undergraduatestudent files to graduate, the notation changes to include type of degree:

BACHELOR OF ARTS

When an undergraduatestudent's degree has been posted, the notation changes again to include degree awarded date, degree type, and honors and minor(s) earned. Honors notations will appear listed under the major for which the notation applies. Students may receive Honors, High Honors, or Highest Honors. Note:

  • An undergraduate student's minor is not listed until the student's degree is posted to their academicrecord. To receive recognition for a minor students must submit aminor petition with their dean's office.
  • Undergraduates with multiple majors in the same college will have the majors listed one over the other.One diploma is issued for both completed majors. If such majors are different degree types (Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts), the student will be issued a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree.
  • Undergraduates with multiple majors in different colleges will display the majors listed separately under a heading for each college. Students with completed majors in different colleges are issued a degree from each college.
  • Undergraduates who are pursing multiple majors must complete all requirements for all declared majors in order to graduate. Failure to complete requirements for any of their majors will result in denial of graduation for ALL majors.

Transfer Credit

Advanced Placement credit, International Baccalaureate credit, and transfer credit completed at other accredited colleges and universities will appear listed on the upper left side of the official academic transcript. Advanced Placement (AP) credit is posted as matched to the UC Davis equivalencies listed in theAP chart in the General Catalog. International Baccalaureate (IB) credit is matched to the UC Davis equivalencies listed in theIB chart in the General Catalog.

Non-UC transfer credit is reflected in the student’s total units completed, not total UC units completed, and are not reflected within the cumulative UC grade point average (GPA). Transfer credit from other UC institutions appear under the transfer credit heading and is reflected within the total units completed, total UC attempted units, total UC grade points, and UC GPA.

  • TERM-PSSD—UC Units Passed on a letter graded basis.

End of the Official Transcript

This is a description of the notations that appear at the end of theofficial transcript.

Transcript Totals

Alisting of all of the unit totals for all UC coursework taken areprintedat the end oftranscript.

  • TOTAL UNITS COMPLETED—This represents all units completed. A completed unit is one where the student received a passing grade (P/NP, S/U, or letter graded). Incomplete, In Progress, NG, and Y grades do not count as completed units.
  • UC BALANCE POINTS—For more information, seeBalance Points.
  • UC GPA—This represents a student’s GPA from all UC coursework only. For more information, refer to theCalculate Your GPA.
  • ACADEMIC STANDING—A student's currentacademic standingis listed at the end of the Official Transcript below Transcript Totals. Academic Standing will either read "STUDENT IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING" or "STUDENT NOT IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING"

Comments

Honors and academic experiences, such as study abroad, theses topic, and academic experiences such asinternshipsare listed in this section. Special transcript notations such as those regarding repeated courses or credit unit reductions are also listed in this section.

Memoranda

This section lists when and how the student has fulfilled certain UC Davis requirements, such as the Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) and American History (AH) Requirement. The ELWR and AH requirements are indicated as either "satisfied" or "required." If the requirements are satisfied, the comment indicates how each is satisfied. Other listed information includes high school attended and previous degrees earned.

Note:ELWR was previously referred to as "Subject A". This terminology was changed in Winter Quarter 2012.
